Archives & Special Collections: Finding Aids

What are Finding Aids?

Finding aids act as maps to a collection. They describe and list the contents of a collection. Finding aids can vary from institution to institution. But most will include:

  • Scope and Content Note - describing the types of materials within the collection.
  • Container List - what items live where (box and folder location)

We have uploaded a number of our finding aids that have been helpful to researchers in recent years.
