Circulation Desk: Course Reserves

General Information for circulation students and staff

About Reserves

Course Reserves are on marked shelves behind the Service Desk.
Permanent Reserves and Test Reserves are in the Tier 4 cage.

  • Any Professor can request that books or media items be placed on Reserve.
  • Professors complete a Course Reserves request form describing each item they wish to have placed on reserve. This includes their own personal copies, as well as items from the Library's circulating collection.

  • Books are shelved alphabetically by Professor name, except for Nursing Reserves, which are shelved by alphabetically by title.
  • DVDs are shelved by DVD number.  
  • All items will have a Reserve sticker on them to distinguish them from other circulating items.

RESERVE ITEMS ARE CHECKED OUT FOR  3 HOURS, WITH ONE RENEWAL, PROVIDED THAT NO ONE ELSE IS WAITING TO USE THE MATERIAL. RESERVE ITEMS MAY NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE LIBRARY!

ALL RESERVE ITEMS WILL INCUR FINES OF $1 AN HOUR IF THEY ARE RETURNED LATE OR MISPLACED.   Always remind the borrower of the time Reserve items are due back.

Hard Copy Reserves Form

If a Professor comes in person to drop off books to put on Reserve have them fill out a hard copy Reserve Form.

These forms are printed on bright ORANGE paper and are located on the shelf next to the phone.
