Circulation Desk: Study Rooms

General Information for circulation students and staff

Ground Floor

LIB-002: Classroom

Room LIB-002 is located on the Ground Floor of the Library, which is one level down from the main floor.

This room is a YELLOW sound zone. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT SPACE FOR GROUP STUDY AND LOW LEVELS OF CONVERSATION

During the week, this room is frequently scheduled for classes; however, signage is posted outside the room to indicate its availability for individual and group study.  If the door is closed, please consult the schedule on the wall before entering.

During times when the room is not scheduled for classes, it must be accessible to both individual students and small groups of students who may be working on a class project.  Under no circumstances can this room be monopolized by individual groups of students. 

LIB-014: Classroom

Room LIB-014 is located on the Ground Floor of the Library, which is one level down from the main floor.

This room is a YELLOW sound zone. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT SPACE FOR GROUP STUDY AND LOW LEVELS OF CONVERSATION

Students may reserve the room for GROUP STUDY (3-8 people) by following this link: Book a Group Study RoomThe room is reservable for up to 2 hours whenever the Library is open. The confirmation email is proof of reservation. 

First Floor

 

LIB-102: Quiet Room

The Quiet Room is located directly through the Cafe and to your left.

  • This room is a RED sound zone. In this room we enforce a NO NOISE POLICY to make it a room for concentrated study or contemplation, which is free of as many distractions as possible. Please silence your phones when working in this space. 

LIB-105: News and Events Room

The News and Events Room is located directly through the Cafe and to your right.

This room is a YELLOW sound zone. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT SPACE FOR GROUP STUDY AND MODERATE LEVELS OF CONVERSATION

  • Tables abound to share books with your study partners, set up your laptops and exchange ideas.
  • Explore the Yearbooks and Course Catalogs on display for a glimpse of Manhattanville through the years. 
  • The beautiful trees, coupled with the extraordinary view of Reid Castle will provide you with tranquility, inspiration and the determination to get your assignments completed on time. However, please bear in mind that moderate levels of conversation are permitted in this room.

LIB-117: Conference Room

The Conference Room is located on the Main floor of the library. After you enter the Library, turn left and walk directly through the main floor computer area towards the Andrew Bodenrader Academic Writing Center, and then at the color printer turn left.

This room is a YELLOW sound zone. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT SPACE FOR SMALL GROUP STUDY AND MODERATE  LEVELS OF CONVERSATION

 

During the  week, this room is frequently scheduled for classes and other staff meetings.  However, signage is posted outside the room to indicate its availability for individual and group study.  If the door is closed, please consult the schedule on the wall to your left before entering.

 

The Cafe

The Cafe is located on the first floor and to the right as you walk into the Library.

This room is a GREEN sound zone. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT SPACE FOR GROUP OR INDIVIDUAL STUDY WITH MODERATE TO HIGH LEVELS OF CONVERSATION. 

Second Floor

LIB-205: Education Resource Center (ERC)

The ERC is located on the second floor of the Library.  Walk straight ahead as you step off the elevator.

This room is a YELLOW sound zone. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT SPACE FOR GROUP STUDY AND LOW LEVELS OF CONVERSATION

During the week, this room is occasionally scheduled for classes; however, this room is generally available for individual and group study.  If the door is closed, please consult the room availability schedule on the wall to your right before entering.
