Art History: Finding Images

This page serves as a guide to resources in Art History

Copyright

Treat each image used as if it is copyrighted. This means crediting where you found the image and the author of the work.

Try Creative Commons to find Images and more!

Creative Commons is a great place to look for images (and all sorts of other digital files that you can use, reuse and edit).

There is even a link to a special set Google Images that are Ok to reproduce.

Always check and give credit to the original creator of an image, same as you would do with any item you find online for your research.

Image Databases

These are databases for locating images of artwork to be used for research, reference, or presentation.

Digital Collections

Many museums, libraries, and galleries are adapting their physical collections to a digital format for preservation and expanded access for researchers.
